Route 66 Newkirk
New Mexico looks great under a colorful sky doesn’t it? Historic Route 66 once gracefully wound through the wide open landscape of the grand American Southwest. Only bits and pieces remain having been replaced by larger interstate highways, but this section is still intact near the faded remnants of the little town of Newkirk.
Thanks to photographer Steve Loveless for allowing me to use one of his grand shots as inspiration for this painting.
