These were my dad’s favorite birds and we were always delighted to see them whenever we were out on one of our many outdoor adventures.

I lost my dad a couple years ago and I’ve found it helpful to imagine that his spirit lives on in these birds. I see them often along the bike trails that I frequent and I always say a little hello as I pass.

This painting is something of an experiment for me as I don’t feature animals that often. But what fun is art if we can’t experiment, right?
