Donna Kay
The shrimp boat Donna Kay ran ashore on the southern tip of Cape San Blas in Florida back in 2018 and was a popular pilgrimage of sorts for locals. It was dismantled and removed about a year ago. I loved the colors of the boat against the peach sky and turquoise gulf waters. I was excited to paint it because it reminded me of one of my favorite Van Gogh paintings – Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries. Thanks to @matt.schrum for letting me use his lovely photo as inspiration for this painting. I hope you dig the results!
