Lilacs

Given the innocent nature of the subject, this was a surprisingly emotional painting for me to complete. When I was growing up, my mom would paint lilacs like these in watercolor. I remember them well. They were some of my favorite paintings that she did and I loved seeing them brighten up the walls of my childhood home. I wasn't intending this to be an homage to her or her lilacs -- I was just going to paint lilacs because they are beautiful. Still, painting is incredibly meditative and one can never tell where the mind will wander whilst under the spell of the brush. I found myself pulled back into those days and fond thoughts of her. It makes me happy to have finished this painting. I hope you enjoy them Mom!

All prints are professionally printed using archival inks on a special tightly-woven canvas that we then mount onto wood panels. No further framing is required, but can be if desired.
