PRAIRIE ROAD, Archival Print on Panel, ©2018 Jim Musil
I’ve been wanting to paint this series my whole life. I was born and raised in South Dakota. Vast treeless prairies cover most of the state. Gentle grassy hills undulate out to the horizon dotted only with an occasional ranch, herd of cattle, or lonesome telephone pole. The skies aren’t just big, they are enormous. Most people can’t stand this endless nothing, but to me it’s one of the most poetic and peaceful sights I know. This scenery is part of me. I hope you enjoy!
