MILKWEED FLUFF, Acrylic on Panel, 12 x 12", ©2018 Jim Musil
What a difference a year makes! I painted a similar Milkweed plant last year and it's cool to see how my process and style has evolved. This season I'm painting larger and better in a number of ways, but the biggest difference I see is that my color and brushwork is much more bold and confident. I love painting prairie plants like this. Summer flowers get a lot of attention, but I find a lot of beauty in these winter remnants, too. Reminds me of 19th century american artist Fidelia Bridges, whom I quite admire. I hope you enjoy this painting!
