FIELD SHADOWS, Acrylic on Panel, 12 x 12", ©2018 Jim Musil 🎨
This painting makes me happy. First off, I love the scene of these colorful tree shadows stretching up a golden hill to that lovely little white barn with it's red roof. The scene had been in my mind for weeks and the only way to get it out was to paint it. This scene also makes me happy because I loved finding it. I've made a ritual of taking long weekend drives on back roads with my dad searching for scenes like this. Modern life is batshit busy and I really appreciate this precious time I carve out with my dad. What purpose should a painting have? I've been thinking about this lately and I realized that, for me at least, a worthwhile goal for a painting is that makes someone happy. What do you think friends?
