I love to paint nature. Yet, oddly, I've painted very few mountains. Part of the problem is that I'm a midwest flatlander. Since I like to work from my own photos, I don't have much to work with. To get me going I got permission to use a reference photo from Instagrammer @proudfootboy. This avid hiker takes some amazing photos of the Pacific Northwest which he clearly loves. This scene comes from the Mount Baker Wilderness Area in Washington State and shows wonderfully colorful huckleberry plants growing along Ptarmigan Ridge in autumn. I hope you enjoy the results!
